Senior Payroll Specialist

We’re looking for an experienced senior payroll specialist to take full ownership of our monthly payroll for 330+ employees You’ll be responsible for ensuring our people are paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with UK payroll legislation.
Responsibilities
Process the full end-to-end monthly payroll cycle for 330+ employees accurately and on time, with the business expected to grow to approximately 700 employees.
Coordinate with different departments and team heads to ensure the accuracy and completeness of payroll data, using the information provided to prepare and process payroll accurately and on time.
Ensure all payroll activity complies with UK legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, employee benefits, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP and ShPP), and pension auto-enrolment obligations.
Prepare and submit pension contribution summaries to the relevant pension providers.
Prepare and post monthly payroll journals, ensuring payroll costs are accurately reflected in the accounts.
Submit payroll data to HMRC accurately and on time via RTI.
Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including processing joiners, leavers and monthly contractual changes.
Manage and resolve employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
Handle sensitive payroll data with discretion and in full compliance with data protection regulations.
Support the Senior Accountant with month-end close processes, payroll reconciliations and related reporting.
Assist with ad hoc finance and payroll-related tasks as required by the wider Finance team.
Coordinate closely with the HR department, acting as a key link between HR and Finance to ensure payroll information is accurate, complete and provided on time.

Background & Requirements
Proven end-to-end payroll processing experience in a UK-based role.
Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation: PAYE, NI, statutory leave payments, auto-enrolment, and RTI submissions.
Experience managing payslips, employee benefits, and pension administration.
Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to work confidently with large datasets.
Experience working with commission-based payroll.
Experience using PayEscape,Phase 3 or similar cloud-based payroll software.
Fluent in English.
Right to work in the UK (unfortunately we can't offer visa sponsorship right now).
Desirable
CIPP qualification or working towards it.
Experience working within a fast-growing or scaling business.
